Potty Training Your Dog: Solving Your Dog Problems

Once you bought your new dog in your house, the very first thing you should worry about is the mess they will make. At first, your new dog will think that your home is one large toilet that they can poop and pee on.

This is why the first thing you need to do is potty train your dog. When you potty train your dog properly, your problems of cleaning your carpet and couch on a regular basis will eventually disappear. If you have your own house and yard, the training will start by taking them outside on specific periods of time, such as upon waking up in the morning, after meals, after naps, and before they go to bed at night.

By training your dog this way, they will think that outside on the yard is the best place to relieve themselves. However, during the early process of potty training, you have to expect that accidents may sometimes happen. Sometimes, your dog will go poop and pee inside your house. In order for them to avoid doing this again, you have to catch them on the act of relieving themselves inside your home. Once you caught them on the act, you have to make a lot of noise in order for them to stop what they are doing and listen to you. Once they stopped, take them outside and let them continue where they left off. If they successfully relieved themselves outside your home, praise them a lot in order to let them know that pooping or peeing outside the house is good.

The most common mistake that humans do when potty training their dogs is that they tend to hit them when they catch them doing it inside the house. If you do this, your dog will find a more creative way to conceal their mess inside your home.

If you live in an apartment, the best way to potty train your dog is by letting them poop or pee on a specific area of the apartment only. To start training them, take them to that area with a leash and wait for them to do their duty. After this, praise them a lot. As mentioned before, your pet will realize that pooping or peeing in that particular area is a good thing.

It is important to remember that dogs are creatures of habit. If you train them to make it a habit of pooping or peeing outside, then they will do the same thing over and over again. Always remember that it takes time and patience to get your dog to go outside your house to do their duty on their own. You have to assist them by constantly taking them outside. In time, you will see that they will beg you to open that door to go poop or pee by themselves.

Potty training takes time and patience. This is why you should be consistent, firm but gentle when potty training your dog.

Keep in mind that dogs don't understand the human language. You have to train them to understand it. When potty training your dog, you have to use the word "outside" constantly. The dog will automatically link the word "outside" on pooping or peeing. With patience you will have no more carpet problems in the future. You will see that potty training your pet dog will be worth your time.
