Potty training can be a completely fun experience both for your puppy and you. But if you are having a hard time doing it, you can read the following suggested tips to turn this training into a great memorable experience:
• Keep a good idea in mind: don’t focus on training your dog not to potty in the house, instead train your dog to go potty outside. There is a distinction between these two approaches. The first one is trying to encourage the dog to make nothing, while the other is encouraging the dog to make something.
Choose a good potty location outside, if possible a lawn area. Take your dog there every time she will potty, her urine’s smell will persuade her to go over and over again. Notice the dog whenever the dog is looking for a spot, they try to sniff first, this is because they are trying to find their usual spot. Disregard your dog’s old pee at this site; do not clean it until she is totally potty trained.
• Familiarize to your puppy the words for elimination.
Say “Go Potty,” “Make Your Business,” “Go Poop,” “Go Pee!”
Pick one of these lines and say it to your dog constantly as you attempt to make her go potty, then do not forget to enthusiastically praise her when she does it. Sooner or later, she would get familiarized with the phrase, and through this repeated magic phrase she will be used to do it again once you order it.
• Clean up the entire potty accidents inside the house. Remember, the smell will just encourage your dog to do it all over again. So, if you don’t wish your carpet to be her potty area, try to eliminate the whole smell. Also, keep in mind that the sense of smell of your dog is a hundred times better compared to yours. So, don’t settle for a damp towel, get a cleaning machine for your carpet.
• During nigh time, position your dog in an enclosed room fitted for a dog bed or a pillow. A dog will hold their poop as much as they can, they won’t do it in their personal bed. So, take this as an advantage, set a boundary on their sleeping area to prevent them from soiling anywhere. You can take an animal carrier or a little kennel, the size of this is good enough for a dog to turn around inside. If you do this strategy, remember to take your dog for a pee early in the morning.
• Be sure that a dog can go outside without your assistance. You can just let the door open every time she needs to go out or if you can’t, you can also build her a doggie door. Don’t assume that the dog will always alert you whenever she wishes to go out. If you can’t provide your dog her own door, you can just simply place a bell on your door and teach her to how play it. Through this, whenever your dog is hoping to go outside, she will just play with the bell and this will be the one to catch your attention.
Remember, it is necessary to do repetitions. Your dog will understand what you want if you will constantly show her the kind of behavior you want her to have. So, try to repeat it for as many times it is needed.
