Potty Training Your Chihuahua Needs Only a Portion of His Master Affection

Training Chihuahuas are relatively easy, this has been attested to by many other people who have had experiences in training them, especially if the trainer has previous dog training experiences.

To train your Chihuahua effectively, you just need to follow several recommendations. Just like to any other dogs, you just have to lengthen your patience during the process of training your Chihuahua.

More so, if you include a bit of care and love, surely, you will finish your training with your Chihuahua in just a short span of time.

To potty train a Chihuahua, some say that it will be better to begin it at as early as seven weeks after birth. Though experts offset that this may be too early, the result of this, you still have to expect for accidents in several months past the mark of seven weeks.

The advantage of beginning the training in an earlier time, however, is that the process of training will be quicker and this will also reduce the number of accidents.

Crate Training

It is advisable to include a kennel or crate to potty train a Chihuahua. This is due to the dogs’ instinct to keep the cleanliness of their beds, that as much as possible they will try not to soil on it. Consequently, your Chihuahua too should be in his crate or kennel during night time. Here, he will be trained to hold their wastes and bladders until daybreak, at the moment that you allow them to go out. Although, you have to maintain a consistent time for his daily potty activities, if not they will never learn the process.

Stay Consistent

As what have been mentioned earlier, it is important that you establish a consistency with your Chihuahua’s potty training. Allow him to go out the moment he gets up from sleep and after his every meal. It is usual for Chihuahuas to relieve itself after these two times, once he awakens and once he has taken his meal. Expect it that if you remain consistent with these times your Chihuahua will learn the process.

Just like the way other dogs are potty trained, praising your Chihuahua in times that he did the right thing is important. You can show your appreciation for his action through an affectionate tone along with some tender touch on him, you can also tell him that he done the right thing like “Very Good Doggy!” Your Chihuahua, after enough praises for some time, will learn the things that you are expecting from him and will persist to do better just to please his master.

Also, do not forget one of the best ingredients for effective teaching—patience. You cannot always avoid some accidents, so it is very essential that you extend your patience to your dog. When accidents happen, send your Chihuahua outside immediately, through this he will be able to learn that the outdoors is the right place to relieve himself.

Just always remember that to potty train your Chihuahua, the most important thing is to give your patience to the dog training. Not that alone, your training will be more effective if you will let your dog feel your affection for him.

You don’t have to stress yourself in training your Chihuahua. What you only need to do to avoid this stress is to make the training process enjoyable both for you and for your dog.
